When automakers introduce a new car model to the market, it’s often the first opportunity for them to show off their latest innovations. With this in mind, Lexus is proud to announce that we have created a brand-new high-performance sport coupe, the RC 350.
Features of 2022 Lexus RC 350
1) New design and appearance with the curvier side profile
The RC 350 adopts a very sporty front end, with a more aggressive look that captures the essence of the sports coupe. Its broad front grille has been enlarged and its honeycomb mesh pattern is more pronounced to create an even more powerful silhouette. The headlamps are encased in a glossy black ring, while chrome rings wrap around the upper portion of each side window to add an element of light reflection, creating a refreshing contrast between black and silver.
2) Improved RC designation
With this new model featuring Lexus’ signature rear-wheel-drive powertrain, it is appropriate that we have added the “RC” name to its badge as well. In the past, we have used “G” to refer to Lexus vehicles with a rear-wheel-drive configuration. However, we feel that this nomenclature may be confusing because “A” and “G” are very similar in shape. Therefore, we have extended the RC brand to include rear-wheel-drive models and intend to use the “RC” designation going forward.
3) Increased power
The new 4GR-FSE 2.0L turbocharged inline-four engine has been upgraded to produce an additional 20 horsepower and 17 lb.-ft. of torque. The greater engine output provides stronger acceleration and a more thrilling driving experience.
4) New eight-speed automatic transmission
The eight-speed sequential transmission, a first for Lexus, is the ideal partner for our new high-output engine. Featuring wider gear ratios, it allows the engine to operate at a lower rpm when cruising and also enables fast acceleration. Eight-speed transmissions reduce noise and improve fuel economy, while also improving powertrain control—generally resulting in smoother performance.
